How to Select the Best Social Platforms for Your Business

by Cara McGinnis • May 12, 2016

These days every click you take and every tag you make on the internet is worth some type of value.  A study by brandwatch.com determined that just last year social networks earned an estimated $8.3 billion from advertising.  Now the big question, out of all the social media platforms available, how do you determine which ones will bring you the most valuable clicks?

  1. Do your research.
Every type of social media platform has a particular demographic and reach. Depending on what they offer, you want to make sure you’re getting the best ROI when it comes to your marketing dollars. Your audience is out there. It’s about finding out where they spend most of their time.

  1. Accept that you can’t be everywhere.
The internet is vast and you must accept the fact that you can’t be everywhere. There are so many different types of social media platforms, from Snapchat to LinkedIn, that it might seem you need to be on every single one. Be wary of the social media specialist who tells you to be everywhere, as it’s just not possible. Think about your audience and instead of throwing minimal dollars at each platform, choose the 2-3 that bring your brand message to life.

  1. Ask for help.
Educating yourself in a whole new world of business, although enlightening, is also very time consuming, and as a business owner you may not have that time to spare so it’s ok to ask for help.Find yourself a social media specialist you trust and hire them to help steer you in the right direction.

In a world where LIKEs and shares mean everything, your business must adapt to this new way of advertising or it may get left behind. It is no longer, my audience isn’t on social media. It’s now, how do I find my audience on social media? With over billions actively using social media, let your first question be, where do I sign up
